There's something special about soaking in mineral-rich baths; so special in fact, hot springs have been used for thousands of years as a natural treatment for stress, pain, and more. And with over 130 useable hot springs within its borders, Idaho is arguably the best state to soak your troubles away.

While Idaho has hot springs scattered all around, several of the very best are tucked away in and around the gorgeous mountain town of McCall. This winter, while all your friends are bundling up, you can be dressing down. Whether you're looking to soak your weekend away or earn it after an adventurous day on the mountain, we've got you covered with these seven you shouldn't miss.

1. Trail Creek Hot Springs

This is a local favorite, and we recommend getting here early as it can fill up fast! Follow a quick 60-foot trail to two different springs. Both have adjustable valves that allow cool creek water in if the temperature is too hot.

2. Bernard Hot Springs

Tucked away in the Boise National Forest, this hot spring is for those who are looking to escape the crowds and a challenge. After a rugged 2-mile hike you'll be rewarded with a 20-foot long pool that has temperatures that get up to 134 degrees!

3. White Licks Hot Springs

Get cozy in these two rustic wood shacks that are easily accessible by car. While the temperature gets up to 110 degrees, you can always control the water temperature with a simple plug. Make sure to drain it for the next soaker!

4. Counsel Mountain Hot Springs

This is the perfect spot to set up camp and soak late at night. Cruise in on a lightly trafficked 2-mile trek that takes you to the bottom of Warm Springs Creek. Once here you'll find a series of different springs all with varying temperatures.

5. Mundo Hot Springs

If you're looking for something a little more developed, Mundo Hot Springs has it all - soak in all natural mineral water, eat burgers, and even stay in their cozy cabins. Pool admission is $7 for adults and $6 for seniors over 60, active military and veterans, and kids ages 6 to 13.

6. Burgdorf Hot Springs

A trip to McCall isn't complete without a stop at this historic rustic resort. Established in 1870, this was McCall's first destination resort. Surrounded by the Payette National Forest, these hot springs provide the ultimate backcountry experience. The pools are open to day guests from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., but it is open all day to overnight guests. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for those under 17 years of age. It is open 365 days a year, but it is only accessible by snowmobile in the winter months.

7. Gold Fork Hot Springs

Tucked away in the beautiful foothills of the North Fork Range, these pools are the perfect family-friendly soaking spot. Here you'll get to choose from six different crystal pools, each varying in degrees. Keep in mind that these pools are closed on Tuesdays. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children 11 and under. Gold Fork is cash only, so make sure to bring enough to cover everyone in your group!

When enjoying any of these gorgeous springs, please remember to be conscientious, kind, and respectful - both to the people around you and the great outdoors. Use Leave No Trace ethics and practices so that everyone can continue to experience these incredible places.

Now get to soaking!
