From the plains of the east, across multiple mountain ranges, and to the deserts of the west, incredible mountain biking can be found across the state of Colorado. Diverse terrain caters to all abilities, and varied elevation offers conditions for all seasons.

Opportunities are seemingly endless, so we've compiled a list some of the best. Trail quality, terrain variation, scenery, accessibility, and general fun level--we've covered it all. Check out these featured destinations for a taste of Colorado's finest trail riding selection.

The famous Colorado Trail connects mountains and wilderness areas across the state and offers spectacular riding on many of its segments. You can access the route at its southwestern end from Junction Creek, its opposite end at Waterton Canyon, or at multiple points in between.

For cruising around outskirts of the Front Range cities, try Betasso Preserve near Boulder, local favorite Hall Ranch near Longmont and Boulder, or Oil Well Flats south of Colorado Springs.

To venture higher into the hills, head for West Magnolia in Nederland, Evergreen Mountain in Alderfer/Three Sisters Park, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, or Buffalo Creek Recreation Area.

Deeper into the mountains, fantastic views await in Hunter Creek near Aspen and Boreas Pass near Breckenridge.

Moving on to the Western Slope, slickrock landscapes around Fruita and Grand Junction open up an entirely different world of riding. The 18 road area deals thrills like PBR, Joe's Ridge, and Zippity-Do-Dah. The Kokopelli Loops outside Fruita earn you huge exposure over the Colorado River on Mary's Loop, Horsethief Bench, and others. Just outside of Grand Junction and Colorado National Monument are unforgettable rides like The Ribbon.

No matter what your skill level, what time of year, or what part of the state, Colorado's mountain biking never disappoints. Use these guides to find the perfect trails for you and to plan your next two-wheeled adventure.
