The Elden Pueblo Ruins, located right off Highway 89 on the outskirts of Flagstaff, is an ancestral village that was inhabited from around A.D. 1070 to 1275. Today a short and easy hike (perfect for small children) leads around what remains of this village.

The pueblo, located at the foot of Mount Elden, was home to possibly as many as 200 people from 1250-1275. It is also thought to have been part of a major trading system, as trade items such as macaw skeletons and shell jewelry have been found here and would’ve come from as far away as Mexico and California.

An electronic trail guide is available (by scanning the QR code you’ll find at the trailhead). Please enjoy the pueblo ruins, but don’t climb on or dismantle any of the rock walls.
