The Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area West Entrance Overlook provides panoramic views of the Gila River Valley and the surrounding desert landscape. The Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area is 23,000 acres that includes four perennial waterways including the Gila River. This area is a unique riparian ecosystem with abundant plant and animal diversity. Numerous outdoor activities are available to visitors such as hiking, rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, four-wheeling, fishing, hunting and camping.

The Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area about 15 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona. From Safford to reach this overlook, travel five miles east on U.S. Highway 70 to Solomon. At Solomon, turn left onto Sanchez Road and follow the Sanchez Road at bit past the end of the pavement. Turn left onto Bonita Creek Road. Follow Bonita Creek Road for about 2 miles; the overlook will be on the right.

This overlook has an informational sign and a map of Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area.  This site has a picnic table, but does not have a restroom. Mount Graham can be seen to southwest of this location. The highlight of this overlook are the sweeping views of the cottonwood lined Gila River.
