Located on the north side of Joshua Tree National Park in the small military base town of Twentynine Palms, the 29 Palms Inn is without doubt the most charming, bohemian, yet luxurious accommodation serving the park.
Here, at the west end of the 9,000-year-old Oasis of Mara, the 29 Palms is more than just a resort for travelers and desert explorers; it is a hub of the local community who are primarily drawn in by the friendly staff, tranquil outdoor setting, incredible restaurant (the steak is... amazing!), and nightly live music. On any given night you'll find gypsy Venice Beach Angelenos, crusty sun-soaked rock climbers, pale-faced Midwest road-trippers, and muscled marines relaxing by the pool after a long day.
The resort itself is a 70-acre compound anchored around the walled and heated pool, restaurant/bar and the main reception/office building. Facilities include:
23 overnight accommodation units (wood-framed cabins, adobe bungalows, rooms, and a penthouse).
The Oasis of Mara, pond and houseboat.
Lawn with weekend yoga classes.
Patio to enjoy your complimentary breakfast.
Creative Center and Gallery.
Faultline farm, an organic vegetable garden.
Adjacent Art Guild Gallery and Twentynine Palms Historical Society.
And, it's also a short 0.8-mile one-way walk to the Visitor Center and Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park.
You can learn more about the specifics of each of the resort's lodging options at the 29 Palms Inn website.
