Big Pine Creek Campground is nestled along Big Pine Creek in Inyo National Forest below the Palisade Mountains of the Eastern Sierra Nevada. Tall old-growth pine forest keeps the campgrounds shaded as the sound of leaves blowing in the wind sets a peaceful mood. The campground is a hub for recreation in this part of the Sierra Nevada. From Big Pine Creek Campground you can hike Big Pine Creek North Fork Trail into the High Sierra to the largest southernmost glaciers in the United States. Palisade glacier the sits above Big Pine Lakes, a series of lakes that boast some of the best trout fishing in the Sierra Nevada. Also, here in the High Sierra in the John Muir Wilderness are several 14,000-foot peaks along the Palisade Crest.

Besides hiking into the mountains, the campground is well known for trout fishing. There is a small trout pond that is managed by nearby Glacier Lodge and is ideal for practicing your casts, relaxing, or teaching the kids how to catch the big one. Glacier Lodge has a store and kitchen should you need any supplies or breakfast during your stay at Big Pine Creek Campground. Big Pine Creek Campground is perfect for the family that is trying to find peace and quiet surrounded by mountains or for the serious hiker or climber looking for a more robust adventure.

Nice campground and a convenient place to stay if you're doing one of the longer hikes in the area. Would highly recommend the boozy rootbeer float from the small store across from the lake after a long day of hiking :)
