While it may not be as close to the star attractions of the Giant Forest such as the General Sherman Tree, Moro Rock, or Crescent Meadow as Lodgepole Campground, Buckeye Flat is just a 30-minute drive from these sites, and it can still be considered a great option for overnight stays in Sequoia National Park. And if the size of Lodgepole Campground doesn't suit you, Buckeye may just be a preferable alternative. With 28 tent-only sites, this campground feels much more laid back, but it is no less beautiful. Live oaks shade the campground, and the Middle Fork of the Kaweah River winds along the campground's western edge, giving Buckeye Flat Campground a very intimate and tranquil feeling. If you are looking to stretch your legs a bit, the Paradise Creek Trail leaves directly from the campground, and the hike to the stunning Marble Falls is very close by.

The reservation season for this campground runs from mid-May through the end of September, and the campground is first-come, first-served for the open dates outside of that. Potwisha Campground may be a viable alternative if Buckeye Flat is full. Sites come with a fire ring, a picnic table, and bear-proof food storage boxes, which are absolutely essential in this environment. Restrooms and potable water are centrally located for all sites.

Buckeye Flat Campground is open from the end of March through the end of September.
