Located near the Cedar Grove Visitor Center and near the end of Highway 180, Canyon View Group Campground is the ideal overnight choice for parties exploring one of the country's most scenic national parks as a group. Perched on the South Fork of the Kings River, this campground is centrally located for both recreation and amenities. From the campground you are only steps away from decent trout fishing. The nearby Cedar Grove Overlook is a perfect spot to appreciate the magnitude of the forces involved in the carving out of Kings Canyon, and you'll also be nearby the steep but rewarding Don Cecil Trail. The Cedar Grove store, cafe, and visitor center are all within walking distance of the campground. The campground is just a short drive from Zumwalt Meadow and the trailheads at Road's End.

The cedar and ponderosa pines are slightly less dense here, allowing for gorgeous views into the canyon. Sites in the campground are designated for mid-sized groups (12 sites serving 7 to 19 people) and large groups (four sites serving 20 to 40 people); reservations for both types of sites are required and are possible as early as May 20. RVs are permitted, though there are no hookups and there is no dump station on site. Generator hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-safe food boxes are provided, and you'll also find potable water and restrooms. Pets are permitted in the campground, but as with all National Parks, they are not allowed on trails.

This campground is generally open from the third week in May through the end of September, but these dates do fluctuate with the weather and Highway 180 road access. Call 559.565.3341 for the most up-to-date information
