At the edge of an alluvial plain formed by the Amargosa River is a collection of historical homes and rooms constructed into the clay rock formations around one cabin known as the Castle In Clay. Set beside the river's east bank about a half-mile east of Shoshone Village on Highway 178, the Castle In Clay is a particular cabin constructed into the stone by miners working in the area. The primary cabin has a couple rooms and windows with a doorway open to the dusty wash outside.

There are several other rooms and caves throughout the wash area, some of which are visible from the gravel pullout and others that become visible only when you venture a little deeper into the area. The exact history of the homes is hard to come by, though the homes are similar to other constructed cave homes at Dublin Gulch located in clay formations adjacent to Shoshone. Visitation is welcome on foot. There are no amenities at the cabins.
