At the south end of the town of Cayucos and adjacent to Cayucos State Beach is a lovely stretch of beach locally known as the Dog Beach. Very wide and flat, this is a great place to walk or run with or without a dog. The iconic Morro Rock stands out in the distance, and the town of Cayucos is visible to the north below the soft hills that line the coast. For the hardy beach walker, it is possible to hike all the way to the town of Morro Bay and Morro Strand State Beach at it's north end, about 3 miles.
