Convict Lake Campground

Convict Lake Campground is located 15 minutes from downtown Mammoth Lakes California, and just a short stroll from the stunning shores of namesake Convict Lake. The beautiful lake lies on the edge of the Inyo National Forest, near the border of the John Muir Wilderness. Beautiful High Sierra peaks including Laurel Mountain (11,824’) and Mount Morrison (12,241’) surround the lake.

The campground itself lies just northeast of the lake alongside Convict Creek. While the campsites don’t offer views of the lake, there are still plentiful mountain vistas for all. There are 85 campsites available. All sites have a picnic table, fire ring and bear locker for food storage. The majority of campsites don’t offer much shade, and many lack privacy. Otherwise the sites are quite nice. Note that no hookups are available.

Toilets and potable water are available throughout the campground. Other amenities are available across the street at Convict Lake Resort including showers, a general store, restaurant, boat rentals and more. Cabin rentals are also available at the resort for those looking to spend a night in luxury!
