Corona del Mar State Beach is a year-round beach near the south end of Newport Beach that has a wide variety of amenities and is great for those looking for an accessible sandy beach site.

Set out over 30 acres of space, Corona del Mar is operated by the California State Parks System. The beach offers picnic areas with grills, cement walking trails, a small cafe, staffed lifeguard towers, bonfire pits, volleyball nets and a spacious sandy beach area. Since the construction of the cement and rock jetty to help preserve the Newport Harbor boating channel, Corona del Mar tends to be cut off from surf conditions, making this a good spot for families with small children who are looking for calmer waters. Additionally, there is a small cove enclosed by stone cliffs on the west side of the beach where there are no waves at all and the tide pools in the rocks at the edge of the boating channel can be accessed during lower tides. This spot is ideal for families, however the slippery walk across jagged stone to reach it may take some time.

Overall, the ease of accessibility and variety of activities available at Corona del Mar tend to make it a very busy beach. Weekends in peak season can see huge crowds. Corona del Mar State Beach is open daily from 6am until 10pm. Dogs on leashes are permitted only during the hours of 6-10am and from 4:30-10pm.

Entrance fees for standard passenger vehicles are $15 per car.
