The trail to Etiwanda Falls is a very popular and heavily-trafficked path with the North Etiwanda Preserve. The North Etiwanda Preserve loop trail shares a portion of this trail and can be added to the route for a longer hike.

The trail leaves the parking area heading north at a gradual uphill slope, until reaching an intersection, at which point it continues ahead at a steeper ascent. The next mile are at an uphill grade through shadeless and sometimes slippery terrain. Gaining nearly 800' in elevation, the upper areas of the trail provide a nice opportunity to turn around and look at the grid of urban development down below.

The the course of the hike a couple other trails branch off of the waterfall trail, however continuing straight on this hike will eventually lead to a shady grove of trees with plenty of areas to sit down beside a relaxing confluence of two streams just above the waterfall. A couple slippery paths lead to the shallow pool beneath the falls.

This trail gets crowded, so consider timing your hike for weekdays or early morning hours to avoid the crowds. There are no amenities of any kind at the trail or trailhead area. Dogs are not allowed within the preserve area.

More information and seasonal hours can be found at the North Etiwanda Preserve website.
