The deep underwater canyon that runs down the middle of the Monterey Bay attracts all sorts of wildlife, and it supports a multitude of other wildlife in turn. This is a huge factor in the abundant and diverse species that live in this area.

There are many places to see the various wildlife in in Santa Cruz, but most of the good spots are fairly crowded. If you are in the mood for watching wildlife at a lesser known location, this is a great spot to check out.

The shoreline is a hard clay outcrop set behind residential houses. The shore access can be found between two of these houses located on Geoffroy Drive. Parking can be a little challenging as you need a permit during certain times of the year. There is nearby off street parking at Sunny Cove, so that is usually the best option.

Another neat feature at this location is a natural blow hole that has formed on the side of the cliff. As waves hit this section, it will shoot water 30 feet or more depending on tide direction and height. So, if the wildlife is not as abundant when you come here, the blow hole can be quite entertaining!
