Hume Lake is understandably one of the most visited spots in Sequoia National Forest. This 87-acre reservoir is a beautiful mountain retreat for fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, and boating (electric motors only). And with both Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park nearby, the lake is also a great alternative for accommodation, especially if you are traveling with pets. Staying outside the national parks may allow for a little more freedom to move as dogs are prohibited on many national park trails.

The Hume Lake Campground is located on the northern shore and provides easy and direct access to the water. Of the 64 total sites available, 14 are tent only. The remaining 50 sites are long enough to accommodate RVs up to 30 feet, though none have hookups and there are no dump facilities on site. Each site is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table, and potable water and restrooms are centrally located. You'll find plenty of amenities at nearby Hume Lake Christian Camp, including a gas station, store, and boat rental facilities.

Hume Lake Campground is open seasonally May through September, and reservations are strongly recommended in the peak season, roughly July through September.
