Secreted away off of Highway 395, June Lake Loop is a scenic detour full of year-round adventure. June Mountain Ski Area is the heart of winter recreation, while hiking trails and four gorgeous lakes keep visitors occupied in summer months.

Trophy trout have been pulled from the loop’s placid lakes, and they lure fishermen from April to October. Various watercraft are available for rent at each lake’s respective marina.

The tiny Alpine town of June Lake would be just as at home in Switzerland as in the California high desert. Resorts, rental cabins, RV parks, and campgrounds dot the 15-mile loop, ensuring travelers of all stripes can find their own level of comfort.

Aspen-lined canyons pop with color each fall and compliment the brews at the annual Autumn Beer Festival. The northern portion of Highway 158 near Silver Lake closes during heavy snowfall. However, the southern route to the ski area is maintained year round.

Just came back from June Lake after 4 days at Oh Ridge Campgrounds. Very nice facility they have there. Lots of hiking and fishing in the area but be prepared for a lot of wind starting mid day and till late evening. Always be ready for a weather change because the east side of the Sierra's will change from beautiful sunny to cold and wet in an instant.
