If you are looking to escape the California heat, Lovers Point Beach has been a local favorite place to swim for more than 140 years. The city of Pacific Grove got its start when landowner David Jack converted his property into a retreat and outdoor recreational area for Methodist Christians. Originally called "Lovers of Jesus Point," the beach became a bathhouse for the patrons. From 1890 to the mid 1970s, glass bottom boating was a popular activity. A replica sits near the parking lot, reconstructed using the original head from the last known boat.

The beach is fairly small and quickly turns into a rocky shoreline. Entry into the water is calm and shallow, which is why kayakers, surfers, and scuba divers like to launch from this point. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and paddled-driven carriage rentals are all on-site and available for rent. A volleyball net is located next to the local dining area that separates Lovers Point Beach from Lovers Point Park.
