Monopoly In The Park is an interesting and unique destination in the center of San Jose's urban core. The life-sized board game is at the northern end of the Children's Discovery Museum park block and gets its name from the 930 square-foot Parker Brothers' game board built permanently into the ground. The board is surrounded by picnic benches and several animal sculptures created by Michael Boris, entitled "The Parade of Animals."

Originally designed and built for the 1992 San Francisco Garden & Landscape Show, the granite game board (side properties each weigh 140 pounds while corner properties weigh 236 pounds!) was relocated to San Jose in 2002. It is the Guinness Book of World Records holder for the largest permanent Monopoly game.

While the park contains only the game board and an anchored oversized pair of dice, renting the space is an option, which includes the use of custom-designed to-scale board game pieces. Rental information can be found here. While nearby street and lot parking requires payment, the park is accessible from the Discovery Museum light rail stop, and free on-street parking is available on the other side of the I-87.
