Mori Point is a costal promontory located 20 minutes south of San Francisco in Pacifica. Laced with trails used by runners, hikers, and mountain bikers, the park is currently being rehabilitated following its use as a dirt bike track and years of disrepair.

Formerly private land, Mori Point became part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area after its purchase by the Trust for Public Land. California Costal Conservancy and local residents were engaged in a drawn out battle to save the land from further development, which ended in 2000 with Congressional approval of the purchase.

Restoration of wetlands, including nearby Laguna Salada, has contributed to the resurgence of threatened red-legged frog and San Francisco garter snake populations. Hawks and omnipresent crows playfully ride the strong uplifts of Mori Point’s cliffs.

A steep staircase named for bootleggers who once deposited their wares on these shores connects Sharp Park Beach with the point above.

To the east, Mori Ridge Trail adds significant incline and mileage for those looking for a more challenging hike. From Mori Point Road, walk north on Bradford Way a few hundred meters until you encounter a pedestrian tunnel on your right. Proceed under Highway 1 and south on Lundy Way, where you can reach Mori Ridge Trail by following signs to Shelldance Orchid Nursery.
