New Shady Rest Campground is located just a short walk or drive from downtown Mammoth Lakes, California. The convenient location makes it a great spot to stay for those looking to be close to town and other attractions such as Mammoth Mountain. The campground is open seasonally, usually early May through late October, but exact dates vary year to year.

New Shady Rest Campground offers 92 campsites. All sites are nestled within the lovely Jeffrey Pine forest and do indeed offer a good amount of shade. The sites accommodate anything from tents and vans to larger trailers and RVs. Note that no hookups are available. Every site has a picnic table, fire ring and bear-proof locker for food storage.

Flushing toilets are available in the campground, as well as potable water. There are no showers. A dump station is available within the campground. Additional campsites may be available nearby at Old Shady Rest Campground, and group sites are located at the Pine Glen Group Campground.
