The Palisades Trail is a beginner-rated ski trail running from Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort's Summit Station to the Wilderness Hut.

The trail runs a one-way distance of 2.9 miles, intersecting with quite a few of the trails in the resort's central corridor along the way. The Wilderness Hut lies at a point where the westernmost resort trails, such as the Kidd Lake / Wiesel Trails and the central trails meet.

The trail maintains a general downward trend as it heads away from the lodge, and it passes through dense forest canopy on a wide groomed forest road before skirting an open meadow as it approaches Kilborn Lake and the hut.

As an alternative to going to the hut, it is also possible to join the Stagecoach Trail as a shortcut to the Kidd Lake and Cascade Lakes area of the resort, where more scenic vistas open up at.
