Open June through October, Sardine Lake Campground offers camping access to one of the prettiest lakes in the Lakes Basin area, Lower Sardine Lake. Both the lake and the campground are popular with fisherman who come to fish the trout-rich waters that lie below the scenery of Sierra Buttes. Beyond the fishing access, Sardine Lakes Campground is ideally located for exploring various trails, mountaintops, and the many lakes of scenic Lakes Basin.

Those looking to hit the trail will enjoy the Sand Pond Trail that leads straight from the campground connecting Lower Sardine Lake via Sand Pond, and it can be connected with longer trails leading around Lower and Upper Sardine Lakes. Other regional hiking highlights include the climb up the Sierra Buttes Trail, which begins from near Packer Saddle above Packer Lake and the Bear Lakes Loop.

Rustic Sardine Lake Resort, located 0.3-miles up the road, maintains a small boat ramp and operates a fleet of small electric boats that are made available for rent, for fishing or otherwise. Like the campground, the resort is open seasonally. The resort also offers lakeside dining and a bar, both of which are open to the public Wednesday through Sunday during the summer.
