Blessed with the scenery of Lower Sardine Lake and the craggy peaks of Sierra Buttes towering above, Sardine Lake Resort offers quaint cabin accommodations set within a picturesque northern Sierra retreat. In operation since 1941, the seasonal resort offers nine cabins for rent, lakeside drinks and dining, and a small boat fleet provides access to the Lake’s renowned trout fishing.

Cabins range in size from studios to two bedrooms. All come equipped with kitchens, and some contain private baths. Weekly rentals are common during the peak summer months, and nightly rentals are easier to attain during spring and early fall periods.

Sardine Lake Resort is well known for its lakeside dining deck and gazebo bar, which is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday. Reservations are encouraged for dinner in the main lodge dining room with seatings at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The gazebo bar, which boasts some of the best views in all of the Lakes Basin, is located adjacent to the marina and opens at 5 p.m.

The County of Sierra designates Lower Sardine Lake a premium fishing lake, and it is well stocked with rainbow trout annually. In keeping with this designation, and to keep the fishing productive, swimming is prohibited in the lake. Swimming is readily available at Sand Pond, however, just a stone’s throw from the resort. Electrically powered fishing boats are available for rent. A primitive boat ramp is also available.
