Located in the Stanislaus National Forest off of Highway 4, Sourgrass Day Use Area is one of the few public drive-up access points for the North Fork of the Stanislaus River, thanks to Sourgrass Crossing. Consisting of a handful of riverside picnic sites, the day use area provides access to good trout fishing and summer swimming holes. Riverside trails head upstream and downstream from Sourgrass.

Sourgrass Day Use Area is located across the river from the Wakalu Hep Yoo (Wild River) Campground.
