Located in a secluded section below the Eastern Sierra off of Highway 395, Taboose Creek Campground is a minimalist campground set along the quiet creek. Operated by Inyo County Parks, the campground feels a little less like well-marked sites, and more of a just a free for all with tables located throughout the area. Vault toilets are set throughout the area.

While this isn't a developed campground, it is more so for those looking for a campground that feels far removed from the normal tourist hustle and bustle. Crumbling asphalt and dirt roads lead to the campground - these roads are easily driveable by passenger cars and RVs. The town of Independence lies about 15 miles to the south, while the town of Big Pine is about 13 miles to the north.

This leaves Taboose Creek a great place for those looking for dark skies and access to rural trails and dirt roads. The creek itself is stocked with trout during the summer months - a fishing license is required - and has a few good anke-deep wading areas for those hot summer afternoons.

There are no hookups and no water. Septic tank servicing is available for a fee by making reservations with a mobile service whose number is available at the campground info board.

Campground fees are $14 per night.
