Tallac Point and Kiva Beach are a great little spots to get your tan on in the summer, to view Mount Tallac from water level, or to wait out the constant construction around the lake on Highway 89... especially if you've been sitting in traffic south of Emerald Bay.

The beach provides a few hundred yards of uninterrupted shoreline in South Lake Tahoe along with one of the more incredible views that the shoreline has to offer. Surfers are not uncommon here, as this area sees the bigger waves on the lake. The backside of the beach is lined with various trees to provide shade during the hot summer months. Dogs are allowed at this beach on leashes, so nobody is left behind on beach day. The surrounding area is lined with pine, willow, aspens, and a protected marsh. The shoreline consists of a mixture of sand, rock and soil.

While small, it sees much less use than other beaches in the area, and it can be a useful spot to steal a quick and unique view most don't know about. Even if you aren't planning to lay out with a towel, this site is worth the quick stop if you have a few minutes to spare on your way around South Lake Tahoe attractions. If you are staying at Fallen Leaf Campground, this will be the most immediate lake access, and the entrance is directly across from Fallen Leaf Road. Public restrooms are the only amenities. Nearby, Tallac Historic Site may be accessed by a shoreline trail that is not maintained.
