Trinidad State Beach is an easily accessible beach that offers surfing, beach lounging, great photographic opportunities, and whale watching. One of the oldest communities on the North Coast, the city of Trinidad has a lot to offer visitors, and its small size means you get friendly local service wherever you go. As you cruise through town on your way to the beach you will notice wine shops, galleries, restaurants, and the Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse, and all are worth a stop at if you have the time and energy.

As you approach the beach you will notice a marina that is also accessible from the parking lot and Trinidad Head. The marina is active, and on any given day you can watch boats as they come and go in Trinidad Harbor. Trinidad Head offers a wonderful hike that leads to amazing ocean views and a sneak peak at the original Trinidad Lighthouse, which is still operational. Once you've parked in the beach parking lot, head across a small sand dune and onto the beach, just a stone's throw away. Take time to enjoy the wonderful view and appreciate the rocky shore line and long sandy beach. Watch the horizon for spouts from passing gray, blue and humpback whales, and sea lions and seals are common closer to the rocks. You are bound to come across numerous photographers enjoying the amazing photo opportunities, and depending on the time of day, you will often spot surfers out riding the waves. The beach is accessible throughout the year, though winter storms can make the beach a little treacherous. Generally, however, Trinidad State Beach is a wonderful beach that delights both adults and children, and it is a great place to appreciate the beauty of the North Coast.

Went to my brothers graduation at Humboldt State and was amazed this was not far away
An almost unexpected scene to come across in Northern California. The water in this area is a vibrant teal and to have it contrast with a near perfect sea stack is such eye candy.
