Set in a mile off of Tioga Pass Road/Highway120 about an hour's drive from Yosemite Valley, White Wolf Campground is a great spot for those hoping for easy access to quieter gorgeous day hikes just steps away from their campsite. The trailhead located in the campground connects to routes extending northwest toward Harden Lake (where you can connect to the trail leading to the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne River) and Hetch Hechy or east toward Lukens Lake and the Yosemite Valley. The options are abundant and require no commute.

The 74 sites in White Wolf Campground are all first-come, first-served. As is the case with all such sites in Yosemite National Park, early efforts meet with the best odds for success; often the entire campground is full by noon. That said, the spacious and well-distributed sites here soften the sense of crowding. Many sites are sheltered by the canopy of lodgepole and sugar pines, and several others receive direct sun, so you'll be able to find your preference. Large granite boulders also help to define spaces and add character to the terrain. All sites contain fire rings, picnic tables, and a food locker; restrooms and potable water stations are centrally located, as well. The campground is arranged as a loop within a loop, and the greatest density of sites is toward the north half of the campground.

White Wolf Campground is located at 8,000 feet, and it is has a relatively short season. Generally it is open from July through early September. The small store and cafe just across the street from the campground is a great resource, and it opens and closes at approximately the same time.
