Cradled between the Santa Monica Bay and the Pacific Coast Highway, this sandy beach is the perfect place to soak up some rays or catch a spectacular sunset. You will find your fair share of sunbathers, but many people come to Will Rogers State Beach to swim, surf, kitesurf, windsurf, dive, kayak, and fish. Lifeguards keep an eye on swimmers during the day, and showers are available so that you can rinse off the ocean water before heading home. Restrooms are available to the public, and 13 volleyball nets are spread out along the beach. Will Rogers State Beach is considered to have better water quality than many other Los Angeles County beaches, and therefore it is an excellent choice for anyone planning to go into the water. It is also considerably less crowded than nearby Santa Monica Beach, and it boasts ample parking. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at Will Rogers Beach. Fires, fireworks, and glass containers are also prohibited. You must leave before midnight, although the beach opens up again at 6 a.m.

The Santa Monica Bay extends into the Pacific Ocean and is home to many different types of sea creatures. Pacific seahorses can grow up to 12 inches here. The two-spotted octopus is regarded as the invertebrate with the highest level of intelligence, although it only lives long enough to reproduce. If you want to see these creatures up close, head on over to the Santa Monica Aquarium.

The Concession Pavilion is situated beneath a row of palm trees, and it offers several tables shaded with umbrellas. If you are looking for a more substantial meal, Gladstones restaurant is just down the street and serves fresh seafood along with decadent cocktails. The Santa Monica Pier is only 3 miles away and has a wide variety of food options.
