At Boyd Lake State Park, close to Loveland, the Boyd Lake Swim Beach offers beachgoers beach access on hot Colorado summer days and the chance to dip into the waters of Boyd Lake. Spanning 1,700 acres, visitors to Boyd Lake Swim Beach will have at their behest a large beach for relaxing, wading, and swimming, a marina with a boat ramp, a fishing pier, and a day use area with ample room for picnics and games.

The swim beach at Boyd Lake State Park is very large, featuring wide expanses of open sand and several play structures for kids to play on. Thanks to its acreage, the park sees heavy visitation, especially on summer weekends—but offering amenities not found at neighboring Loveland Lake, the benefits outweigh the costs. Swimming is open for most of the spring and summer, beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending in late September or October. Boyd Lake offers 1,700 surface acres for watercraft of all kinds, and kayakers and paddlers use the beach as a launch for their craft.

Fishers will find a dedicated fishing pier here. In recent years, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has stocked Boyd Lake with black crappie, channel catfish, rainbow trout, walleye, bluegill, white bass, and largemouth bass. With broad shallows, Boyd Lake offers conditions that are ideal for offshore fishing and wading. Be sure to check with Colorado Parks and Wildlife for current fishing regulations. Like many reservoirs in Colorado, the department enforces a minimum requirement for catch of certain species.

A large and well-manicured picnic pavilion offers a covered area with picnic tables, restrooms, landscaping for lunches in the park, and concessions provided by Boyd Lake Concessions. The Boyd Lake Marina offers moorage for boats and a general store. In addition to fishing supplies, the store provides groceries and camping supplies for those using the Boyd Lake State Park Campground. The marina also rents fishing boats, pontoons, jet skis, canoes, kayaks, and paddle bikes.
