Along the banks of the Cherry Creek Reservoir in Cherry Creek State Park, the Cherry Creek Swim Beach and Day Use Area offers white shores and calm waters within 30 minutes of downtown Denver and directly adjacent to Cherry Creek State Park Campground.

Encompassing 4,000 acres of park and an 880 surface-acre reservoir, Cherry Creek State Park ranks among Denver’s most unique parks and preserves, offering an airfield for hobbyist model aircraft and a shooting range open to the public. The day use areas along its northeastern and southwestern shores are well developed, featuring several day use areas, a marina, boat ramps, and, most notably, broad, white sands and broadleaf trees to relax under during sunny summer weekends.

Among the numerous day use areas here, including Dixon Grove, East Shades, and West Shades, Cherry Creek includes a covered pavilion for picnicking. The swim beach is broad and spacious. Its sands are broken by stands of broadleaf trees and picnic tables, and it includes a playground structure for children to play. Views over Cherry Creek Reservoir showcase the iconic peaks of the Front Range and the humble skyline of Denver Tech Center. Its waters are open to motorized and non-motorized boats, accessible from the boat ramps on either side of the lake. Located on the western shore, the Cherry Creek Marina offers boat rentals.

The network of trails at Cherry Creek extends for several miles throughout the park, including the wetlands at its southeastern corner—a peaceful urban oasis for visitors seeking escape.

Be advised that no lifeguards are stationed at the beach.
