Crags Campground is tucked into the forest below Pikes Peak east of Mueller State Park. The rudimentary campground features 17 sites for campers at the trailhead for the Crags Route and the Devils Playground. The Crags Route climbs over 12 miles and 4,000 feet of elevation gain to the summit of Pikes Peak. Notably, access to the campground requires the payment of a $18 fee, but it does not require passage along the Pikes Peak Toll Road.

A total of 17 first-come, first-served sites are available for tents and small RVs. Each site includes a picnic table and a fire ring, and potable water is also available. No trash service is provided at the campground; everything packed in must be packed out. Sites are large and spacious, and, being tucked into the forest, the sites are separated by large stands of pines, giving campers ample shade and privacy. Where slopes exist, sites are terraced to keep them level. The forest road access is rough and narrow at times, so long trailers are not recommended. There are no hookups at this campground.

Although rudimentary, Crags Campground provides campers a place to overnight before an early-morning and challenging ascent of Pikes Peak.
