The small community of Eldorado Springs, tucked into the mouth of gorgeous Eldorado Canyon, is named for the artesian-aquifer water that is piped to the surface from deep underground. For over 100 years residents have used the water for drinking and for recreation. Eldorado Springs Resort pumps the spring through a large swimming pool, keeping its clear mineral water constantly circulating. Though it is not a hot spring, the naturally cool water is modestly heated to about 79 degrees, the perfect temperature for refreshment on a sunny summer day.

The resort was originally built in 1905, and it soon grew to include multiple pools as well as a hotel and cottages. It was a popular destination with Denver residents from all walks of life, including many high-profile businessmen and celebrities. Today the park is owned by Eldorado Artesian Springs bottled water company, and though facilities have been drastically downsized since its early 20th-century heyday, it remains a comfortable getaway that retains a very historic and somewhat rustic feel. Note that the resort no longer has lodging.

Amenities around the pool include benches, tables, shade structures, a diving board, and a water slide. There is also a picnic area on the shady banks of South Boulder Creek. Refreshments are available for cash-only purchase at the resort's snack bar, or you can bring your own picnic.

The pool attracts a diverse crowd of people, as it always has. You are likely to meet Boulder and Denver and locals as well as tourists from all over the world traveling alone or in groups. Kids of all ages are welcome in this family-friendly environment.

Eldorado Springs Resort makes for a particularly convenient stop if you are visiting the nearby Eldorado Canyon State Park.
