Looking forward to a quiet morning or afternoon fishing, relaxing in a hammock or paddling slowly around a pretty lake? Then Manitou Lake may be just the ticket.

This 5-acre lake is just a 15-minute drive north of Woodland Park and 45 minutes from Colorado Springs. There is a reserveable group picnic ramada, lots of picnic tables scattered around the lake, and a couple of fishing decks over the water. A trail circumnavigates the lake and passes through a small wetland area at the lake’s outlet where bird watching should be good. The park is managed by Pike National Forest, and there is a day use fee. The Colorado Campground is adjacent, and there is no obvious fee collection point walking in from that direction.
