Rifle Falls State Park is a great place to relax for a few days of camping. It is set in a quiet valley about 6 miles past its sister park, Rifle Gap. But these sisters aren't twins! Instead of Rifle Gap's wide expansive views and large flat setting, Rifle Falls is surrounded by hills and woods, and instead of boat motors, the sound of Rifle Creek is a constant companion.

The campground has 13 sites for RVs or tent camping with electrical hookups and seven sites with pretty long walk-in trails for those wanting more solitude. Luckily, wheelbarrows are provided. There are flush toilets at either end of the campground. The four sites at the end of the loop (10, 11, 12, 13) are very close together and great for a multi-family group but not good if privacy is important. Rifle Falls Campground is open all year, but there may not be water in the winter, so check ahead with the park office.

Rifle Falls is a pleasant park with a few trails to explore, and the falls are fun to photograph. The caves will be a favorite feature for kids. All of these attractions are a short walk from the campground.
