Located within the beautiful Blue Spring State Park in Orange City, Florida, lies the Sand Pine Scrub Campground. Surrounded by one of Florida's most unique eco-regions, campers can enjoy a close up look at one of the state's diverse but threatened habitats. A layer of evergreen oaks provides shade for campers and scrub inhabitants alike; wildlife enthusiasts with sharp eyes might spy scrub jays, cardinals and even gopher tortoises making their way through the lower layer of palmetto and Florida rosemary. Each campsite is nestled within a wooded alcove, which provides both privacy and ample opportunity for nature viewing from the comfort of a picnic table.

The campground offers 45 full-hookup sites for both tents and RVs. Folks camping in RVs should be prepared to back into their sites. For those wishing for most convenient access to the rest of the state park, site 18 and 19 would be ideal, as they are located right next to the short nature trail that leads to the park's main picnic area, marina, the historic Thursby House, and the spring run itself.

Six cabins are also available for rent on the property, comfortably nestled in their own oak hammock. These cabins consist of two bedrooms and sleep up to six people. Central cooling is available for stays during Florida's many hot months, and a fireplace is built in for the more uncommon cold months. Renters also have access to a kitchen complete with stove and refrigerator, as well as an outdoor grill. Unlike many of Florida's state park cabins, these also include pillows and linens, though they will not be changed until the stay is over.

Cabin renters and campers are advised to book as early as possible. It is important to remember that during the winter months, the park becomes a manatee sanctuary. While this means that the spring is closed to swimmers, it is still the most popular time for visitors to plan visits to the park to observe the manatees from the boardwalk. Booking is available as early as 11 months in advance, which is advisable.
