Fort Walton Beach is one of the few areas of the Gulf Coast where you can find white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. When looking across the ocean, it will remind you of the Caribbean waters to the south. Visitors usually come to this area during the school off-seasons, so expect heavy foot and vehicle traffic at those times. As you get closer to the month of October, the crowds will start to die down. October is a special time of the year for this place if you love to fish. The nearby town of Destin holds the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo for the whole month. This is your chance to catch some of the biggest and best fish for cash and prizes.

There are many other activities throughout the Fort Walton area. You can find golf courses, water parks, amusement rides, sea-life-themed parks, and more. Finding great food in the area is another activity you can check off your list. Everything from local seafood to kid favorites are available. When looking for places to stay, you have many options such as hotels, condos, apartments and houses. No matter the size of your party, there is a place for you. Next time you are in Florida, go visit the Emerald Coast. You won’t be disappointed!

Note: Please respect any areas on the beach marked off by pink tape and posts, as these are sea turtle nesting areas.
