Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Parks showcases native Florida wildlife including manatees that can be seen from an underwater observatory in the main spring. Other animals you will see will include black bears, panthers, bobcats, flamingos, alligators, American crocodiles, river otters and many different types of birds. This is also home to Lu, the oldest living hippo in captivity. He turned 57 in 2017.

The park offers many different educational programs throughout the day. Homosassa Springs is ADA accessible as the entire park is on a wooden walkway. Once you arrive at the main visitor center, you'll pay a $13 entrance fee. From here you can take either the tram or the boat ride. It is recommended to take the boat ride to the park and the tram on the way back from the park. The boat ride is a slow and smooth ride down the river where you'll get to see some wildlife and learn about the park and what you will see once you arrive.

Once you have arrived you'll go through another visitor center where there is a cafe and gift shop. From here you can follow the trail to all the different wildlife sections. It's a loop that is fairly easy to navigate. As you visit, be sure to be respectful of all the animals around you.
