On the headwaters of the Wekiwa River, which has been designated as a National Wild and Scenic River, lies Wekiwa Springs State Park. The park features ADA-accessible facilities, day use areas, camping, swimming, fishing, and paddle sports, ensuring a fun day full of various outdoor activities!

The park features a 13-mile trail system with boardwalks as well as more rustic hiking and cycling areas. Gorgeous river hammock views abound throughout the park's property, with wildlife viewing aplenty. Black bears, white tailed deer, gopher tortoises, and a variety of interesting bird, reptile, and amphibian species can all be spotted by sharp eyed observers. (Of course, it is important to always practice passive observation techniques and maintain a safe distance!)

Beginning at the headspring itself, park visitors can explore one of Florida's most scenic waterways from the water itself. The spring pool is 72 degrees year round, which makes for a most refreshing dip on a hot Florida summer day. Further downstream, the run and river are accessible by kayak, paddleboard, or canoe. Trips can be made to multiple landings, ranging from a 1-mile to a 10-mile paddle.

As one of central Florida's most popular natural destinations, it is always best to plan ahead to visit this park, especially on weekends and during the summer! The park often reaches capacity quickly.
