Located within the Wekiwa Springs State Park lies an RV/tent campground in the heart of Florida sandhill habitat. This valuable and unique ecosystem is protected in the Sunshine State, and with some exploration, it is easy to see why. From endangered commensal species like the gopher tortoise to keystone species like the black bear, the opportunities for rare wildlife encounters are aplenty.

The campground itself features over 50 sites, each of them suited with electric hookups, water, a picnic table, and grill. Each site is wooded, allowing for a private, secluded get away, even though this campground is smack in the middle of central Florida. Don't let the proximity to urban sprawl fool you, though. The Wekiwa is a designated Wild and Scenic River surrounded by a series of parks and reserves that span over 42,000 acres - so there is plenty of room to get a look at wild Florida, even without leaving the convenience of metropolitan areas too far behind.

A short hike or bike ride from the campground lies the state park's day use area, the highlight of which is the first magnitude spring that is open for swimmers. This area also has multiple picnic areas, concessions, trailheads, and paddle craft rentals - plenty of things to make any camping trip one to remember. Like the campground, this area is ADA accessible and pet friendly (with some limitations).
