Freshwater Bay is located along the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the northern end of the Olympic Peninsula just west of Port Angeles. This location is ideal for kayaking, fishing, boating (small boats), beach combing, bird watching and simply enjoying the views over the water.
An abundance of wildlife can be seen in this beautiful tidal environment. Sea otters, seals, birds, fish, and invertebrates are all around; it’s a good idea to have a camera or binoculars handy. On a clear day you can see Mount Baker in the distance.
For a good adventure with lots to see, head west and hug the rocky cliff shoreline to explore numerous small coves with a wide variety of wildlife and plants, both above and below the surface. Keep an eye out for marine mammals such as otters, seals, and whales, that frequent these waters.
The boat launch is open year round, but it is somewhat dependent on the tides, and there is no dock.
