Kilauea Stream Swimming Hole is a large family friendly area near Kahili Beach.

Sharing a parking area with the beach area, a separate trail forks left and descends along the river's east bank for about a quarter mile before reaching the edge of the swimming area. The wide pool of clear water is near the river's mouth, and benefits from having the sandy shore of a secluded part of the beach.

During most calm periods, the pool is still and shallow enough that adults can walk from one side to the other. A rope swing hangs from a tree on one end, while a shady sandy cove sits on the opposite bank. The waves of Kahili Beach are a short walk away.

While good for families with children looking for an alternative to the beaches that may have rough surf, there are no bathrooms, water or any other improvements at the swimming hole, and no lifeguards are present. Water conditions may be more hazardous during the rainy season when the river has a higher flow and surf is heavier on the island's north shores.

Parking is along the shoulder of Kahili Beach Road, however visitors should be aware that the parking tends to fill up during the travel season.
