Lawa'i Beach might not seem like much, especially at high tide when the small stretch of sand is barely enough for someone to lay down without getting splashed by some of the larger waves. This south shore beach is situated right across from the Lawa'i Beach Resort and upscale Beach House restaurant, so crowding may be an issue in the narrow stretch of sand to the left. The right side of the cove is made up of rocky shoreline, which attracts some fishers. The water entry can be made difficult by submerged coral rubble and some larger waves during the summer months when the swells are larger on this side. However, the snorkeling is among some of the best that the south shore has to offer, with large coral heads and plenty of fish, especially out to the left in front of the Beach House restaurant. Friendly butterflyfishes, chubs, and surgeonfishes will have no issue coming right up alongside snorkelers for some amusing interactions. Earlier in the day, turtles may be seen either on the sand or just offshore. Surfing, paddleboarding, and other watersports are also common here. Facilities include a public restroom and freshwater shower for rinsing. Limited street parking can also be tough to find on busy weekends or holidays.
