Lydgate Beach Park is a 2.5 mile stretch of beach on Kauai's east side just south of the mouth of the Wailua River.

With a variety of offerings and opportunities, including playgrounds, protected swimming areas, camping, wide paved walking and cycling paths, covered picnic benches, disc golf and shore access, Lydgate stays a very popular beach, typically crowded, but with the parking and space to accommodate the crowds.

Two large rock-enclosed shore areas provide ideal safe swimming conditions for families and children. Lifeguards are also posted to protect the beach. Across the parking area are spacious lawns, plenty of picnic tables, and playground areas.

The interesting ruins of Hikinaakala Heiau lie at the northern edge of the beach park.

This is a good beach park for families staying along the eastern side of Kauai.

Showers and bathrooms are spread throughout the park.
