The Puu Hinahina Lookout provides an expansive view into the Wimea Canyon, which is often called the “Grand Canyon of Hawaii.” From this viewpoint you can peer across the 10-mile-long, 1 mile-wide, 3,500-foot-deep canyon to numerous waterfalls and colorful rock formations. Also, you can see all the way down to the Pacific Ocean from atop the canyon walls and catch a view of the forbidden island of Ni'ihau 17 miles offshore.

In addition to the great views from Puu Hinahina you can access a system of trails from the locations. Clearly visible signage at the location provides directions for hiking options around the Wimea Canyon.

Hike the Canyon Trail which starts to the left of the lookout. Easy to moderate difficulty, approximately 2.5 miles one way. Unmatched views of the canyon and a short offshoot trail that takes you to the top of Waipo'o Falls.
