The Lucky Peak State Recreation area provides many amenities for boating, swimming, and beachfront lounging, and Barclay Bay is one of the most accessible of all the spots to visit.

Located just southeast of Lucky Peak Dam, the Bay is a popular boat ramp ($3 launch fee) and has a free access site with a dock and restroom for swimmers who want to enjoy the cool waters in the hot Boise summer. Barclay Bay features a large, sandy beach with restroom facilities and covered picnic areas. A popular feature for children is the Loch Ness monster installation snaking its way in and out of the sand.

The beach is easily accessible from the parking area, and it is a great spot to meet groups boating nearby. The area around the beach is a strict 'No-Wake' zone, so boats won't create waves and aren't a danger to swimmers.

For those who want to enjoy the spot but want to move away from the beach, continue southeast down an access path to a series of covered picnic spots along the rockier shoreline or further off of the water.
