A true gem of Western Idaho, Bruneau Dunes State Park provides a wide range of activities for the avid outdoorsperson and the casual tourist. It's a real treat for nature lovers. The park offers excellent habitat for migratory birds and is a hotspot for birding year-round.

The unique landscape of the park creates a playground for visitors of all ages. The dunes are off-limits to motorized vehicles, so people can hike safely along marked trails or explore the dunes on their own. The visitor center rents sand boards to more adventurous types.

The best part about visiting Bruneau Dunes is seeing the park at night. Stargazers will appreciate the night sky viewing opportunities as the dunes lies far away from the light pollution from big cities. The park even has an observatory with a 25-inch reflector telescope, the largest one in the United States, that is open to the public. On summer weekends the park staff offers educational astronomy programs with access to the observatory for a small fee.

There are several options for overnight visitors. The Broken Wheel Campground caters to tent and trailer campers. The Eagle Cove Campground provides all the amenities for RV camping. The Equestrian Campground has a horse corral and access to equestrian trailheads. Also, there is a pair of cabins for visitors looking for a less rustic experience.
