Come take a paddle down the beautiful Fall Creek and into Geist Reservoir. Geist Park in Fishers, Indiana, is conveniently located right along the creek. While it sports other attractions such as a children’s playground, idyllic wooded park area, and scenic nature trail, more importantly, it offers not just one but two convenient canoe ramps into the creek.

Heading downriver from the park is flat water with little to no current as the creek enters Geist Reservoir. It is about 1.5 miles from Geist Park to the bridge at Olio Road. This trip is best taken as an out-and-back, as there is not yet a canoe ramp at Olio Road; however, there are plans for a future park at this location. Until the park materializes, simply paddle out into the reservoir, get your nature fix on, and then paddle back.

The quantity of wildlife in the reservoir is impressive. Cranes, swans, geese, ducks—plenty of fowl to fulfill any bird lover’s wildest fantasy. Bring you camera if you have one, and paddle along softly for maximum sightings.

On your way back, take a plunge into the creek and cool off with some help from the rope swing hung along the nature trail at Geist Park. There’s no better way to end an excellent paddling adventure.
