Chicot State Park Campground + Cabins

The two campgrounds found in Chicot State Park offer easy access to all of the amazing outdoor activities found in the state park. There’s the North Landing Campground and the South Landing Campground, found on their respective sides of the park. The only real difference between the two campgrounds is that the south campground supplies 50-amp service, while the north campground offers 30-amp service and a laundry facility. The south campground is a little more conveniently located to the entrance as well as other attractions such as the Splash Pad and the arboretum. 

Besides the usual picnic tables and fire rings, campsites 84 through 91 in the south campground all have decks as well as raised tent pads that are slightly tucked back in the forest, and these make for both great tent camping and great RV camping. A few of the decks even have large trees growing directly through them, really enveloping you in the forest! For those campers who enjoy a more wide-open scene, the north campground might be better for you; it is a little easier to navigate and a little less crowded. 

Campers who like something a more primitive and private might enjoy camping at one of the six backcountry campsites found along the Chicot State Park Hiking Trail, a 22-mile trail that encircles the lake. Accessible only by backpacking, these campsites are dispersed somewhat evenly along the trail and require a $1 per person per night permit, which can be purchased at the main entrance. 

Primitive camping not your style? How about staying at one of the deluxe cabins or lodges? The state park rents out 18 cabins and two lodges. The cabins sleep up to eight people with one double bed, two bunk beds and one queen sofa sleeper. The lodges each sleep up to 14 people with two double beds, one sleeper sofa, and four bunk beds.
