Natural Bridge State Park is located in North Adams, Massachusetts, a once-depressed urban area that is experiencing a renaissance in recent years. The city's proximity to Mount Greylock and the surrounding Berkshire Mountains makes it a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. Natural Bridge State Park is located within the city limits not far from downtown.

The park has geological and historical significance. Its chief feature (and namesake) is the only natural white marble arch in North America. Visitors can also view many of the remains of a marble quarry that was active on-site from 1810 until 1947. The gorge, caves, and many rock formations were created by the Hudson Brook, which flows through the park. The main features are best viewed from a series of stairways and balconies below the dam. Chain-link fencing surrounds the area to prevent injuries and damage to the formations.

Aside from the main viewing area, which constitutes a short, 0.25-mile walk with many steps, there is also a picnic area, a visitor center, and a 0.5-mile nature trail. Rustic sculptures are scattered throughout the picnic area. In the quarry there is a musical installation created by Walter Fandrich, which plays every evening for 15 minutes starting at the astronomical sunset.
